Topo Chico Sparkling Water Review

Published: Apr 18, 2024 · Modified: Jun 2, 2025 by Christina Koncker · This post may contain affiliate links · 1 Comment

Topo Chico has entered the sparkling water space and all I have to say is “WELCOME!”

Topo Chico released three (non-alcoholic) sparkling water flavors - Lime with Mint Extract, Tangerine with Ginger Extract, and Blueberry with Hibiscus Extract. This trio of Topo Chico Sabores flavors is a must-check out if you’re looking for something that contains real fruit juice, like Spindrift sparkling water. Get ready to get your flavored sparkling water drink on.

From the Coca-Cola Website

Topo Chico Sabores are made with real fruit juice with a hint of herbal extracts, paired with the signature minerality & exceptional effervescence for an elevated taste on a healthier indulgence.

The level of fizz is pleasing - not overly aggressive but enough to know it’s there. I’d give it a 6/10 on bubble aggressiveness. Let's get on to how Topo Chico Sparkling Water tastes!

Topo Chico Sabores Sparkling Water Review

NEW! Topo Chico Tropical Mango

Oh hell to the yeah! This instantly became my favorite flavor of the flavored Topo Chico offerings. For one, LOVE me some mango, especially when it's well done. This has a great mango flavor that's buttery, juicy, and sweet, but well-balanced against a lovely tang. And the best part? You even get that subtle piney-ness that's characteristic of fresh mangoes. Note that this is tropical mango, resulting in a vibrant mango flavor that's bolstered by hints of citrus. I'm so dang impressed with Topo Chico's mango offering, I've been forgoing other fizzy mango flavors. Bonus: No added sugar and only 10 calories in a 12-ounce can. Cheers!

Though, admittedly, I do still enjoy Bubly's mango flavor when I want straight-up fizz.

NEW! Topo Chico Raspberry with Lemon

Raspberry is one of those flavors I've seen fizzy water brands take a whole host of directions. And I gotta say, I'm liking Topo Chico's version. The raspberry flavor is delicate, but it retains that sweet/tart complexity you get when eating fresh raspberries. The addition of lemon makes the flavor light and dessert-like in the best possible way. It's giving hints of raspberry lemon bars, or perhaps raspberry lemon sorbet. Raspberry lemon is an absolute winner. Bonus: Only 1 gram of sugar and 5 calories in a 12-ounce can.

Topo Chico Lime with Mint Extract

This was the first Topo Chico flavor I tried and it impressed me enough to want to try them all. The lime and mint are so beautifully balanced, resulting in a lovely and refreshing beverage that is incredible when sipped freshly cracked open from the fridge or in a glass with ice. At 5 calories in a 12-ounce can I’ll happily demolish these all year long. In terms of the lime flavor, it does taste like lime from concentrate (the lime juice that comes in those little lime-shaped bottles that are always awkwardly placed next to the real limes). You know how it kind of has this like sort of flatness to it? But it's rounded off with a pop of freshness from the mint that makes up for not being freshly squeezed. There are so many lime beverages in the sparkling water space, but this one ranks highly in my book. I encourage you to try it - and if you don’t like it feel free to send it my way!

If you link Lime with Mint Extract, I think you'll also like Waterloo's Lemon-Lime sparkling water. Check out what I thought of the Waterloo sparkling waters in this review.

Topo Chico Tangerine with Ginger Extract

I could be biased because I tried Tangerine with Ginger Extract last, but it’s the least exciting of the three flavors. For me, the tangerine flavor falls a little flat. Fresh tangerines and fresh ginger have assertive flavor profiles and rather than complementing one another they seem to mute what’s great about each in this beverage. Mango may be a more appropriate fruit here paired with ginger. I do enjoy the ginger and tangerine flavors that do come through, I'm just left wishing they were bolder. This flavor comes in at 15 calories in a 12-ounce can.

I suspect if you like this Tangerine with Ginger Extract that you'll also enjoy Polar's Ginger Lime Mule (which you can read about in this Polar Sparkling Water Review).

Topo Chico Blueberry with Hibiscus Extract

Blueberry with Hibiscus Extract is THE BEST Topo Chico flavor of the three, hands down. The blueberry flavor is SPOT ON. It’s tart and sweet and delicious. I’ve tried other sparkling waters that use hibiscus and they tend to be too floral tasting to me (looking at you La Croix), but paired with blueberry it’s kismet, meant to be - truly an impressive pair. Blueberry hibiscus tastes like it should be loaded with sugar, a total guilty pleasure, but it has only 10 calories per 12-ounce can. Which is great news because I’m drinking them like there’s no tomorrow.

Topo Chico FAQ

Which Topo Chico flavor is the best?

The best Topo Chico flavor is Blueberry with Hibiscus Extract, hands down. Lime with Mint Extract is also pretty amazing, but that blueberry hibiscus won me over.

How long has Topo Chico been around?

Topo Chico has been around since 1895 - if you can believe it! The Topo Chico Sabores line of flavored sparkling waters was first released in 2023 (Coca-Cola acquired Topo Chico in 2017). Learn more about Topo Chico's history, particularly how it got popular in the United States in this super interesting read: "The Man Who Made Mexican Water a Hit" by Smith Magazine.

What is Topo Chico sweetened with?

Fruit juice! At least that is my assumption (I am not a nutritionist) after scanning the ingredient list on Lime with Mint Extract:

FILTERED CARBONATED WATER, LIME JUICE FROM CONCENTRATE, NATURAL FLAVORS, POTASSIUM SORBATE AND SODIUM BENZOATE (TO PROTECT TASTE), MINT EXTRACT, MAGNESIUM CHLORIDE*, POTASSIUM CHLORIDE*. (*MINERALS FOR TASTE)

    Hello,
We love the Topo Chico products but just one request if y'all could replace the Lemon one with another choice. Anything else but Lemon would make it that much better.
    Thank you!
