Sliced hot dogs are heated, then cooked with heavy whipping cream that reduces down to a rich, comforting gravy that clings to sliced hot dogs, transforming them into a simple, inexpensive dish that can be enjoyed with toast.
Slice weenies into ¼ inch rounds. Pro tip, leave them all horizontal in a group as packaged and cut them all at once.
1 package of 8 hot dogs
Bring pan to medium heat. Add weenies and cook for a few minutes, to encourage some texture, say 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Add heavy whipping cream. Adjust heat as necessary to keep things at a gentle simmer. Stir occasionally, for around 4-5 minutes.
1 cup heavy whipping cream
This is a sort of you know it’s done when it looks like this dish. You don’t want it to be loose, you want the heavy whipping cream to reduce and cling to the hot dog slices.
Remove from heat, add some fresh black pepper, and serve immediately with toast. That you were totally preparing at the same time as the Creamed Weenies for a perfectly steamy execution.

*Nutrition information is approximate and was calculated using an online nutrition calculator. Tip 1. Cook the hot dog slices for a few minutes first to give the meat a little char and texture. Is a hot dog worth eating if it doesn't have at least a little char?Tip 2. Feel free to adjust the amount of heavy whipping cream to achieve a looser and more abundant gravy. Start by adding ¼ cup over what the recipe calls for, then reducing to see what you think as it thickens. You can always add a little more towards the end of cook time as the gravy thickens.
